Welcome to Denver Safari Club International
Humanitarian Outreach Program

Promoting healing through adventure

WHO WE ARE

Since 2004, Denver Safari Club International Humanitarian Outreach Program (SCIHOP) has supported outdoor events for thousands of military veterans and other people with an array of physical, emotional and mental disabilities. We know daily life for a person who has sustained a disabling injury or brain trauma can be stressful and isolating for them and for their family. So, as part of one of the world’s most respected organizations in the arenas of hunting and wildlife conservation, we focus on providing opportunities to help them and their family members enjoy the outdoors and participate in group activities that can have a therapeutic effect, greatly improving one’s outlook on life.

WHAT WE DO

SCIHOP is honored to support the nonprofit River Deep Foundation, which organizes hunting and fishing trips; instruction in archery and sporting clays shooting and an array of other outdoor events. Our teamwork with the foundation provides priceless opportunities for a day of peace, relaxation, camaraderie and fun in a safe, supportive environment.

PARTICIPANTS

Our free events are specially designed for people who have traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other disabling injuries caused by psychological trauma. Space at our events is limited and awarded on a basis of first come, first served.

If you work with one of our primary referral sources, please contact your case manager to inquire about participating in an event. Our primary referral sources currently are: Craig Hospital, the U.S. Army’s Fort Carson Soldier Recovery Unit, Operation TBI Freedom and the Veterans Administration Hospital.

The River Deep Foundation also welcomes hearing from people who are not currently working with one of our referring partners. Please contact the foundation at 303-881-0400.

SUPPORT

We invite you to:

I cannot thank you enough for these wonderful opportunities, and please know that my fallen brothers are with me on every outing, in my thoughts and my heart. Your volunteers were really down-to-earth people who talked to us like normal guys, not less than them or some kind of damaged goods. I really appreciate everything they are doing out there and have been telling my fellow brothers about your work. Unfortunately, most of them are still in that dark place... I understand and sympathize with them more than any person should ever have to, but I feel it is a greater honor to our fallen brothers that we live life, take advantage of every opportunity offered to us, and be the best we can to really honor their sacrifice and hold their memory high. Thank you again so much.
