Last weekend River Deep and SCI HOP, along with Allen Strong and Rudy Haynes, hosted Veterans from Operation TBI Freedom and Soldiers from Ft Carson Warrior Transition Battalion (WTB), on the Eastern Plains of Colorado, in farm country. Friday morning, the group of Veterans and hunting dogs were excited to walk the tall grass. Hosts Allen Strong and Rudy Haynes were both very generous with their time and land. The hunt began in the tall grass adjacent to the corn fields. Both the flushers and pointers went to work doing their job locating pheasants. The dogs mainly found hens, but a few roosters come out and ended up in vests. Everyone had a great time, especially at dinner with the feast at Happy Jacks Barbeque in Holyoke. Happy Jacks owner, Allyn Robinson, did a fantastic job and has been treating us for years. The group was tired and full, so we headed back to the hotel for a good nights sleep as we were up early on Saturday, back out in the fields. It’s been a great couple of days and a wonderful time for everyone. A big thanks to all of our Holyoke Friends.
