We had a large group of kids and adults all excited to learn archery from the expert staff at RMS Gear. We used recurve, crossbows and compound bows. Our lesson began with the range rules and safety instruction. Next, we were up to the shooting line and given bows. The arrows flew and the fun began.

After a few hours of range time, we took a break and had some lunch. It's been a great day and a big thanks to all staff at RMS Specialty Gear, and the volunteers for making this outing possible.

December 1, 2019

Location: Kersey, CO
Hosted By: River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP
Participants: Operation TBI Freedom

Over the first weekend in December, River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP hosted an outstanding waterfowl hunt over decoys in Kersey, Colorado, for three Veteran’s and one care giver. After a windy night at the Cobblestone Inn, we were met by our guide/host Collin Mulligan at 5:15AM, for the trip to the river.

We all assisted in placing the decoys and getting set up. The temperature was about 0, but the birds were coming in. All the hunters got there limit of ducks, with a bonus of three Canadian Geese harvested, as well.
All the hunters and guides had an amazing experience.

Last Monday's art class was a blast as we made air-dry clay bowls, and a few other shapes at the Art Students League of Denver. Everyone started with a ball of clay, which we began shaping and then were given tools for the finer details. Some of our class were re-shaping mid-way due to our expectations. Either way this class was a lot of fun and we all got to take home our finished products.

A big thanks to the staff at the Art Students League of Denver and all the volunteers who made this class possible.

You can tell by the smilies on everyone's faces that they are all excited to be at RMS Specialty Gear, whether a beginner or an expert, archery is just a great sport. The staff at RMS Specialty Gear are top shelf. Most of the group used traditional bows with a few using compound bows. In just a couple of hours, you could see the significant improvement in the group. It looked like many of the beginners are hooked, and we will see them again on future outings.
We wrapped up with some pizza for lunch and a group photo. A big thanks to all the volunteers and staff at RMS Specialty Gear for making this outing possible.

It's a warm November day, perfect to be outside. The first activity of the day will be trap shooting, our group consists of beginners and seasoned shooters, as family members are welcome to shoot a few clays. The School of Mines students will be with us, testing out their new adaptive equipment ad shooting device.

At lunch time we headed down to the club house for a great lunch and some discussion about the pheasant hunt. It is time to gather the dogs and head up to the fields in search of pheasants. We have two track chairs that effortlessly navigate the tall grass. The dogs went to work and we managed to flush a few birds. At the end of the day, we managed to harvest a few pheasants for dinner. It's been a great day and big thanks to Valhalla Hunt Club and all the volunteers.

We started the day with a tune-up at the trap range. We are testing out adaptive equipment, shooting prototypes from the Colorado School of Mines, and the students are anxious to try them out. Everyone will have the same amount of time shooting some clays.

We appreciate and want to thank everyone who participated and donated to a great day on the golf course.

September 15th - 19th, 2019

Location: Camp Bullwheel, Ennis, MT.
Hosted By: River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP
Participants: Operation TBI Freedom & Ft. Carson Warrior Transition Battalion

We had Soldiers and Veterans from Ft. Carson’s WTB, and Operation TBI Freedom who all traveled to Ennis, Montana for a Fish & Float Trip on the Madison River. This trip, we had to deal with the weather and the wind. Peter Pauwels and the guides he finds to volunteer with him, were still able to give us an amazing trip even though we only had one full day of fishing on the Madison.

On our second day in Montana, we did like tourists do and we explored Ennis and the surrounding area. What a day we had learning about some of Montana’s rich history! Our Third day we found our way up into the mountains, as far as our vehicle would take us, to a spot where we parked so we could hike about half a mile to a small mountain lake. It was a beautiful little lake full of Cut bow trout. Everyone had a great time as we spent the entire day fishing and catching fish, after fish. These trips we do to Montana are absolutely amazing!

The folks at Camp Bullwheel really do make this trip worthwhile, everything from the food to the guides and the stories, what a great place to make new friends and lasting memories.

This past Saturday, we were introduced to Fencing at the premier Fencing center in Colorado, the Denver Fencing Center. We started with the proper foot placement and posture, along with the basics of Fencing. We suited up along with our instructor for the day Chris, and proceeded to fence. We then paired up with other participants from our group. Most kept score and everyone had their game faces on! I don't think everyone is really aware of the workout that goes along with Fencing, but it shows in everyones face when the masks come off. Win or loose, it was a lot of fun and very challenging. Dove Hunt at Valhalla Hunt Club
It's opening day for dove season. We gathered in a grassy field with trees and a pond. We spread out under the trees, which are located close by. The doves flew overhead, some spotted us and veered off. With dove hunting, you have to be quiet and invisible, the doves are small, fast and erratic in their flight pattern.

At the end of our morning hunt, we managed a bag of doves, which will be very appreciated around the dinner table. We headed back to the clubhouse for lunch and small talk about the upcoming hunting season. It's been a great day and a big thanks to Valhalla Hunt Club, and Russell and Steph for hosting us.
