Participants: Craig Hospital

Our group is gathered and ready to receive instructions from the Denver Fencing Center staff. They explained the fundamentals and then they put us through a series of drills. It was time to suit up and start fencing.

Some of the group kept score which added to the excitement. Everyone had a great time and hopefully we will see them again on future outings.

Last Monday's art class was a blast as we made air-dry clay bowls, and a few other shapes at the Art Students League of Denver. Everyone started with a ball of clay, which we began shaping and then were given tools for the finer details. Some of our class were re-shaping mid-way due to our expectations. Either way this class was a lot of fun and we all got to take home our finished products.

A big thanks to the staff at the Art Students League of Denver and all the volunteers who made this class possible.

Last Tuesday we had another amazing art class. We learned how to craft small baskets from pine needles! Our instructor, Elizabeth Barber, taught our group about identifying, gathering and preparing materials. Our class learned basic coiled basketry techniques and stitches, while creating a small work of art to take home.

Everyone in the class had a wonderful time! A big thanks to the Cottonwood Center for the Arts and our instructor, Elizabeth Barber.

Location: Rocky Mountain Speciality Gear, Wheat Ridge, CO.
Hosted By: River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP
Participants: Craig Hospital, Operation TBI Freedom and Ft. Carson Warrior Transition Battalion

You can tell by the smilies on everyone's faces that they are all excited to be at RMS Specialty Gear, whether a beginner or an expert, archery is just a great sport. The staff at RMS Specialty Gear are top shelf. Most of the group used traditional bows with a few using compound bows. In just a couple of hours, you could see the significant improvement in the group. It looked like many of the beginners are hooked, and we will see them again on future outings.
We wrapped up with some pizza for lunch and a group photo. A big thanks to all the volunteers and staff at RMS Specialty Gear for making this outing possible.

November 9, 2019

Location: Valhalla Hunt Club, Bennett, CO.
Hosted By: River Deep Foundation and SCI HOP
Participants: Craig Hospital and the Colorado School of Mines

It's a warm November day, perfect to be outside. The first activity of the day will be trap shooting, our group consists of beginners and seasoned shooters, as family members are welcome to shoot a few clays. The School of Mines students will be with us, testing out their new adaptive equipment ad shooting device.

At lunch time we headed down to the club house for a great lunch and some discussion about the pheasant hunt. It is time to gather the dogs and head up to the fields in search of pheasants. We have two track chairs that effortlessly navigate the tall grass. The dogs went to work and we managed to flush a few birds. At the end of the day, we managed to harvest a few pheasants for dinner. It's been a great day and big thanks to Valhalla Hunt Club and all the volunteers.
